Quick care, seven days


Akron Children’s Hospital’s Quick Care facility, located at its Beeghly campus, 6505 Market St., Building A, is available for doctor visits for minor illnesses seven days a week.

Quick Care can treat cough/congestion/upper respiratory infections; ear infections/ear aches; eye redness/drainage/itching; sore throats; pain during urination; splinter/tick removal; insect bites/stings; rashes/skin infections; and fever (in children 3 months or older). Sports and work physicals are also available.

The facility is open Mondays through Fridays from noon to 8 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Same-day appointments can be made at mychart.akronchildrens.org/MyChart/openscheduling. Walk-in patients are accommodated at the next available appointment time. Visits are billed to insurance as primary- care visits. For information, call 330-746-8566.

Safety lessons for sitters


Safe Sitter courses to provide girls and boys entering grade six or higher with the information and skills all sitters should have, including basic first aid, rescue breathing, accident prevention, childcare tips, what to do if a child chokes, and how and when to call for help, are offered at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and St. Joseph Warren Hospital on six different occasions throughout the summer through the support of Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley.

The classes at St. Elizabeth are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 18, July 16 and July 30; and June 25, July 23 and Aug. 6 at St. Joseph in Warren. The cost is $30 per student. Scholarships are also provided through Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley for children from families who cannot pay. Registration is required. Call 330-480-3070.

Dental services offered


ONE Health Ohio is offering basic dental services for adults and children at its new Northside Dental Center, 500 Gypsy Lane, on the third floor of Medical Building A.

Services include fillings, extractions, cleanings, digital X-rays and exams. ONE Health Ohio accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most commercial insurance plans. A sliding-fee scale is offered to medically uninsured and underinsured persons who qualify.

The dental center’s operating hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information or to schedule an appointment, call 330-469-2049.
