Club will host Jazz & Dessert Festival

The Austintown Band Parents Club Inc. will host its fourth annual Jazz & Dessert festival at 6 p.m. Jan. 26 at Austintown Middle School, 800 S. Raccoon Road. The event will feature four jazz bands and a competition among professional and amateur bakers and dessert-makers from around the Mahoning Valley.

Austintown Middle School Jazz Band, directed by Jeremy McClaine, will perform at 6; Fitch Jazz 2 and Fitch Jazz 1 will perform next, both directed by Wesley O’Connor; and the Fitch Alumni Jazz Band will perform at 7:45 under the direction of Marc Pupino.

Admission is $6 per person and includes 10 dessert samples and a small carryout container. Beverages will be available for purchase. There will be various auctions, one of which will be for an electric guitar and amplifier donated by Dan and Rick Barber of the Music Gallery.

All bakers and dessert-makers are permitted to make their own dessert selections. Bill and Lorretta Bacho of Bacho’s Cakes & Crafts and Cheryl Bair of Sugar Showcase will judge the displays, and all guests will receive tickets to vote for their favorite contestant.
