The Michael Kusalaba library hosted the first Sip and Paint for children on March 12.

Thirteen children, ages 5-10, painted a jellyfish along with librarian assistant Amelia Dale.

“It’s a fun twist on the classic sip and paint idea,” Dale said.

She demonstrated for children gathered how to paint their canvas, giving advice on how to mix the paint and what brushes to use.

The library provided paint, artists aprons, canvases and snacks for children as they created their masterpieces.

“It looks complicated but it can be really easy when you break it down step by step,” Dale said.

Children enjoyed a snack of goldfish, juice boxes and cookies as they worked.

After they completed their work, children took their canvases home with them.

“It’s a great way to get kids into art, especially those who already have an interest,” Dale said. “It lets them explore it in a fun way.”
