Youth theater presents ‘Treasure Island’

The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theater will open its season with “Treasure Island” with three performances on the main stage.

Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

In this reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s adventure novel, a young female protagonist takes center stage. “Jamie” Hawkins (played by Elizabeth Jadue) and her family are on the hunt for treasure, hoping to outwit the infamous pirate Long John Silver and his crew. Joanna Andrei is the director; Kate Pelini and Sarah Jane Demetruk serve as assistant director and stage manager.

The cast also includes Kenny Day (as Long John Silver), Lilly Andrei, Carl Brockway, Evan Brockway, Aubrey DeJacimo, Jaietta Jackson, Jibril Jackson, Erica Kovach, Eden Lesnansky, John Monroe, Aiden O’Bryant and Mikey Zoccali. Ensemble members are Miah Dattilo, Lillian Gerst, Priscilla Kovach and Bella O’Bryant.

Tickets are $13 ($9 for children 12 and under) and can be reserved by calling 330-788-8739. Flex passes can be redeemed for this performance.
