On Sept. 14 the Emrboiderers’ Guild of Youngstown hosted the annual Ohio State Day event at the Poland library.

Ruth Ebert, community chairman of the group, said that each year other groups, including the Akron and Cleveland chapters of the Embroiderers Guild, take turns hosting the event.

“We don’t host it every year,” said Ebert. “We all take turns but this year was our year to host.”

The event ran for two days, and was organized by the Embroiderers Guild.

During the workshop, participants worked on a piece that was done in the counted canvas technique.

The workshop was presented by nationally recognized teacher Kurdy Biggs, and was overseen at Poland by committee chair Jean Chamberlin.

“It’s a fun way to get everyone together,” Ebert said.

Kravitz Catering Service catered the lunch for the event.

Eleven committee members were present during the event, with 17 people total at the workshops.

Committee members included chair Jean Chamberlin, Mary Jane Brosko, Lue Bokovinsky, Donna Chiarelli, Ruth Ebert, Janice Finocchi, Linda Gwinnup, Julie Kerner, Judy Power, Sue Robinson and Sandy Stevens.

The Youngstown Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild meets once a month from January until October.

The group meets at the lower level of the IOOF Hall in Canfield on the fourth Tuesday over every month at 10 a.m.
