Canfield Republican Women's Club PAC will sponsor a quarter auction fundraiser June 6 at the Shrine Club, 1735 W. South Range Road, North Lima. Gino DiFabio will be the emcee and caller for the auction. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the auction begins at 6. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. The cost is $10. Grove City Memorial Park, 1200 W. Main Street, will host the 28th annual Grove City Strawberry Days festival from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 8 and 9 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 10. Simply Slavic will host its 8th annual Simply Slavic festival from 7 to 10 p.m. June 15 for “Party on the Plaza- Slavic-style” and from noon to midnight June 16 on East Federal Street. Auxiliary of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will host its fourth annual fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica in Youngstown. Girard Multi-Generational Center's annual fundraiser “Cars are the Stars 4” will include two special raffles this year. Winners will be announced the day of the show, Saturday (rain date, June 9). Tickets are $5 for each raffle. The first raffle is for a 55-inch 4K UHD TV, and the second is for a $250 Visa gift card sponsored by Windsor House Inc. Magilla's Sports Bar will sponsor the 13th annual Sunshine Benefit Golf Outing on July 21 at Lakeside Golf Course, Lake Milton. Proceeds benefit Rachel Sheridan of Boardman, a sonographer at UPMC Horizon who is battling stage 3 breast cancer. The volunteer committee hosts the event to help cancer patients and their families in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys to defray medical costs. The outing is a three-person scramble with continental lunch at the turn. A steak fry will take place following the scramble, at Magilla’s Sports Bar, 255 Four Mile Run Road, Austintown. Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce will host First Friday Block Parties June 1, July 6 and Aug. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. on South Main St., Columbiana. The first block of the street will be closed to traffic beginning at 4:30 p.m. and reopen at 8:30. The events include shopping, food, entertainment and special events. On Friday, the event will feature a car show by the Kool Time Kruisers, a remote-control car race for children and adults, entertainment and merchant specials. Friends of the Mahoning River will host a canoe and kayak paddle at 10:30 a.m. June 9 from the newly constructed Girard Launch in collaboration with the Trumbull Canoe trails. Paddlers will leave the dock at 10:30 and will arrive at the B&O Station for a picnic.

Suzie's Dogs & Drafts, 34 N. Phelps St., Youngstown, in cooperation with the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, is sponsoring a "Donate a Hot Dog" campaign to help provide food to the area's homeless population. Throughout the year, Suzie's customers can donate a hot dog for the hungry and write a note of support. Donations will be matched dog-for-dog by the restaurant. On the second Wednesday of every month, employees will provide a meal and bring all the notes for the overnight residents and meal visitors at the Rescue Mission. The goal is food for the body and encouragement for the spirit. The project is inspired by the shooting death last November of Colin Brown. Brown worked in the restaurant industry, managing newly opened restaurants and helping get them off the ground. He was a volunteer with the Common Wealth Kitchen Incubator in Youngstown, was known for his pay it forward attitude and always helping those in need.
Veterans' Outreach will host its Third Annual Golf Scramble July 6 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St., Girard. Cost is $55 per person or $240 per team. Cost is $20 for the meal only. There will be a 50-50 raffle, basket raffle, doughnuts and coffee in the morning, beverages, dinner buffet and more. Youngstown Scleroderma Support Group will host its 15th Annual Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Fun Walk that will take place Saturday at Boardman Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the walk will begin at 9:30. There will be refreshments and food for walkers and volunteers during and after the walk. Lake Milton American Legion 737 Auxiliary will host a fundraiser casino bus trip to the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh on June 7. Cost is $30 per person, players will receive $20 in freeplay and $5 food voucher from the casino. The bus will board at 9 a.m. at the Lake Milton American Legion 737 hall, 16465 Milton Ave., and will return approximately 5:30 p.m.
Ohio Living Senior Center will sponsor a trip to Thistledown Racino June 6. Fab-u-les$ Tours will arrive at 9 a.m. at Youngstown Skate, 7080 Tiffany Blvd., Boardman, (please use side parking lot only, do not park in front), to meet all those who are not members of the senior center. Upon arrival at Thistledown all will be presented with a $25 free slot play incentive plus a gift bag. The bus will depart for home at 4 p.m.
Warther Museums and shopping bus tour to Sugarcreek still has seats available. The trip is church-sponsored and cost is $99. Admissions (to both museums), transportation (Anderson) and dinner are included. The bus will depart at 7 a.m. from The First Congregational Church of Wayne (corner of US 322 and state Route 193).
