Western Reserve Rangers host meeting
The Western Reserve Rangers 4-H Club recently hosted its May meeting. Junior camp counselors led the Rangers in the singing of camp songs. Counselors Emma, Olivia and William Reph were joined by Sawyer Jones, Isabel Schors, Natalia Kresic, Olivia Haid and Dailen Brown in leading the singing.
The counselors also gave a promotional presentation for the 4-H Junior Camp at 4-H Camp Whitewood, which will take place from July 9 to 15. Adviser Robin Reph explained the criteria for receiving a camp scholarship and distributed forms.
Tiffany Voland, Mahoning County 4-H Queen and Rangers 4-H club member, talked about her visits to several county fairs last fall and her participation in the Ohio Fairs Queen Contest at the Ohio Fair Managers Convention in January.
Health leaders gave reports on healthy eating as well as E. coli bacteria. Collin Meehan discussed ways to prevent getting E. coli infections and its symptoms. Autumn Reed shared health tips and ways to avoid eating disorders.
The Mahoning County 4-H public-speaking contests will take place June 19 at the Extension Center in Canfield. Members can do a demonstration, an illustrated talk or a health and safety speech. They also will be able to participate in the 4-H pledge and “What 4-H Means to Me” presentations.
The club will participate in the Berlin Center Memorial Day Parade, which will be at 2 p.m. today at the Berlin Township Fire Departmant. Members also will participate in Canfield’s Fourth of July Parade.
The club will meet again June 14 at 7 p.m. at the Ellsworth Fire Hall.
