Alzheimer Network will host annual walk


The Alzheimer Network will host its annual walk Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Walkers may register at the event at 8:30 a.m. at the Colonial Inn on the fairgrounds. A one-mile course is marked around the paved fairgrounds and light refreshments will be provided. All are asked to participate in the basket auction and 50-50 raffle. All proceeds benefit families in the valley.

YSU will host speaker on Monday


The Youngstown State University Center for Working Class Studies, in partnership with Lit Youngstown, will present Anne Trubek, founder of Belt Publishing and Belt Magazine and editor of the recently released “Voices From the Rust Belt,” from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Youngstown Historical Center for Industry & Labor, 151 W. Wood St.

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. Numerous books also will be for sale.

Church to host rummage sale


Lockwood United Methodist Church, 4570 Lockwood Blvd., will host a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Saturday.

Craft event at library


Gettin’ Crafty class attendees will make decorated sachet envelopes at the Monday get-together that begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Quaker Room of the Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St. Registration is required and may be done online at or by calling the library at 330-332-0042.

Gettin’ Crafty class takes place on the second Monday of each month, is open to the public and free of cost to participate.
