ELECTION UPDATE | Schiavoni officially concedes governor's race

YOUNGSTOWN — State Sen. Joe Schiavoni and his running mate officially conceded the gubernatorial race tonight.

At this hour, he and Stephanie Dodd trail Richard Cordray by a 311,175 to 43,319 margin.

"We knew this campaign was a long shot from the start, but that never bothered us, because we had plans and policies that would make life better for the families we’ve met throughout the state," Schiavoni of Boardman, D-33, said, adding "we just didn’t have the resources this time around to let [voters] know it was out there.

The statement said "Joe will continue to work hard in the Ohio Senate, and Stephanie will do the same on the State Board of Education."
