NEW CASTLE, PA
United Way of Lawrence County recently hosted its 94th annual celebration dinner at The Villa. Gayle Young, executive director, welcomed the guests and introduced Sara Dudash, board president, who conducted the annual meeting.
The board elected these officers: Sara Dudash, president; Sam B. Biasucci, vice president; Wayne J. Alexander, vice president; Jerry Prestopine, vice president; Jason Shaffer, treasurer; and Christy Verenski, secretary. These board members were re-elected: Barbara Bernardi, Sam Biasucci; Cathy Ioanilli of Ecolab; Judge Dom Motto; Harold Taylor of PA American Water Co.; and Christy Verenski of Diversified Advisors. New board members are Kevin McCarty, CPA; Arnett Carbis Toothman; Luann King, director of Quality Improvement and Patient Experience at UPMC Horizon and Jameson.
Gayle M. Young, executive director, gave an overview of the campaign and reported that it raised 13 percent more than last year. She recognized corporate donors FirstEnergy Foundation and Ellwood Quality Steels and acknowledged the largest employee campaigns, Penn Power employees and United Parcel Service employees. She recognized businesses with substantial increases to the employee campaign such as Pennsylvania American Water Co., Precision Feedscrews Inc., Lark Enterprises, Arnett Carbis Toothman, Ecolab, Columbia Gas of PA, UPMC-Jameson and Silgan Plastics.
Terri Stramba of Stramba Farms & Fiber Mill serves as marketing chairwoman for United Way of Lawrence County. She introduced the Campaign Incentive Program where individuals donating $250 and above were entered into a drawing to help raise funds for the campaign. She reported the campaign raised $20,620 in new dollars and is looking forward to increasing that amount next year.
Area businesses also donated a variety of items to be included in the raffle.
