Pioneer Village to open Saturday

EAST LIVERPOOL

The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park are announcing opening day for Pioneer Village from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be activities for all ages including the Doug Fodrey Memorial Fishing Derby for children age 15 and under, with fishing poles and bait provided. History program for the month is “The Underground Railroad Code Quilts and Songs,” beginning at 1 p.m. in the Vodrey Chapel. Cold drinks, snacks, candy and hot dogs will be available for purchase at the Trading Post. The Friends host the programs the first Saturday of each month, May through September. Monthly pancake breakfasts take place from 8 a.m. to noon the third Sunday of each month through Oct. 8. For more information, visit friendsofbeavercreekstatepark.org.

Campbell class of 1955 to meet Saturday

BOARDMAN

Campbell Memorial High School Class of 1955 will meet for its monthly breakfast at 10 a.m. Saturday at What’s Cookin’ in the Mathews Road Plaza in Boardman. Classmates, spouses, friends and guests are welcome.

Society will host open house Sunday

NILES

Niles Historical Society will host its membership meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Its monthly open house of the Thomas-Ward home will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. There will be pieces of china manufactured in the past by various companies in Niles on display.

Vendors and artisans interested in participating in Heritage Day on Aug. 4 .

Stitching Sisters to host trunk show

Stitching Sisters Quilt Guild will host “Quilt in a Day Celebrates Forty Years,” the newest book by author Eleanor Burns. Pat Knoechel, Burns’ sister, will present quilts and techniques from the book at the Stitching Sisters meeting that will take place at 10 a.m. and lunch at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 2432 S. Raccoon Road.

Donation is $7 and will be accepted at the door. All participants receive a door prize. “Quilt in a Day” books and supplies will be on sale and Knoechel will autograph purchases. The Eleanor Burns quilt, “Road to Stardom,” also will be raffled off. For information, call Patricia at 330-507-5333.

The Mental Health Association of Mercer County Inc. will host its annual basket auction fundraiser Sunday at the Sharon American Legion Post 299, 1395 E. State St. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and auction begins at 3. Presale tickets are $5 each. For information or tickets, call Dorothy at 724-866-2788 or Gene at 724-866-3891. Food and beverages also will be available. The item was dated incorrectly in the society Worth a Look section April 30.
