Boys track defeats Youngstown East and Ashtabula Lakeside

The Boardman boys track team improved its record to 9-0 on April 24 with a victory over Youngstown East and Ashtabula Lakeside on Senior Night at Spartan Stadium by a score of 76.5-48.5-29.5.
The Spartans opened the meet with a first place finish in the 4x800 relay with the team of sophomores Mitchel Dunham and River Flatley and freshmen Caydin Newberry and Justin Maloney. The next event, the 110-meter hurdles, senior Mychal Wicker placed fourth. In the 100-meter dash, Spartan sophomore Rashie Garner placed fourth, and the 4x200 relay team of seniors Justice Jama and Billy Cammack, junior Josh Rodriguez, and sophomore Isaiah Suarez placed first.
In the 1600-meter run, Dunham placed first, Newberry was third and senior Mark Moradian was fourth. In the 400-meter run, sophomore Alan Cuevas placed first, freshman Frank Bero was third and senior Neil Bevacqua placed fourth. Sophomore Brian Yauger placed first in the 300 hurdles, and in the 800-meter run, Bero was first, senior David Bader was second and freshman Brennan Stratton placed fourth. Senior Jacob Kimble tied for fourth place in the 200 and in the 3200 Flatley placed first, Moradian was third and freshman Anthony Marshall placed fourth. The 4x400 relay team of Cammack, Suarez, sophomore Nick Torres and senior Nick Lascola closed the meet with a first place finish.
In the field events, senior Steven Amstutz placed first in the shot put with sophomore Dave Merdich in second and junior Nikitas Missos in fourth. In the discus, Missos was first and Merdich was fourth. The high jump was won by Cammack, and the pole vault and long jump were not contested due to poor event conditions.
The Boardman Track Meet MVP was Lascola for his outstanding effort in the 4x400 relay.
