Free Comic Book Day will be celebrated at stores across the country Saturday.

As the name implies, thousands of comic books by all major publishers will be given away to those who stop in comic book stores.

In the Mahoning Valley, All American Cards and Comics, which has locations at 52 Boardman-Canfield Road in Boardman and at 161 W. Market St. in downtown Warren, plans to give away more than 2,000 comic books between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m..

All American, which has taken part in Free Comic Book Days for 17 years, will have local artists in its shops selling their creations, as well as cosplayers.

Books published by Marvel, DC, Image, Valiant, Dark Horse and more than a dozen more will be given away at All American and other Valley shops as well, including:

Liberty Comics, 4686 Belmont Ave., Liberty

Watchtower Heroes, 6 S. Main St., Columbiana

Bennie’s, 462 Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, Pa.

Carnation City Comics, 2500 W. State St., Alliance.

All American is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Warren location this year and the 20th for its Boardman location. The shops, owned by Greg Bartholomew, will also produce Youngstown Comic Con at Covelli Centre on July 7-8. Go to for information.
