Canfield Village Middle School hosted its third annual students versus staff basketball game on March 9.

In front of a standing-room only crowd, members of the seventh- and eighth-grade boys and girls basketball teams took on members of the CVMS staff in a battle for bragging rights.

The game consisted of six 10-minute ‘quarters.’ To start the game, the seventh-grade girls took on the staff for 10 minutes of play, ending with the staff scoring 20 and the students scoring 6. Next, the eighth-grade girls took the court against the staff, and ended their time with a score of staff 28, students 22. The seventh-grade boys then has their turn for 10 minutes of play, ending their time with a two point advantage over the staff with a score of 47-45.

After halftime, the eighth-grade boys took the court against the staff, ending their time three points behind the staff with a score of 64-61. Next, the seventh-grade boys and girls combined to go against the staff, ending with a deficit of seven points with a score of 80-73.

To end the game, the eighth-grade girls and boys joined forces to battle the staff. After a hard fought contest, the CVMS staff came out on top of the competition with a final score of 95-85.

All proceeds from the CVMS students versus staff basketball game will go to the school for future expenses.
