School to celebrate Pi Day on Wednesday


Staff at Austintown Intermediate School are planning a day of mathematical activities to celebrate Pi Day on Wednesday. Students will find the front hallway transformed into a “mathopolis” with each grade level having a different theme and participating in various activities. Additionally, a math challenge problem will be administered to all students, and those who answer correctly will have the chance to throw a pie at principal Mike Sauner during lunch period.

School district to host ‘Open the Doors’ day


Liberty Local School District has kindergarten registration packets available for pick up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration appointments can be made from March 19-28. Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old before Sept. 10.

The district will host an “Open the Doors” day Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. at E. J. Blott Elementary School, 4003 Shady Road. For information or to visit kindergarten classrooms, call 330-759-1053.

Shenango campus to host presentation


The Penn State Shenango Alumni Society and the Lawrence County Alumni Chapter invite the public to hear alumnus Dr. Roger L. Williams present an illustrated talk on “Evan Pugh’s Penn State” at 5:30 p.m. March 21 in the Shenango campus auditorium, located on Shenango Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Doors open at 5 p.m. Following the presentation, Williams will answer questions, as well as sign his book, which may be purchased at the event.
