YSU Softball loses two to College of Charleston


The College of Charleston scored eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings of game two of a doubleheader to lead the Cougars to a doubleheader sweep of the Youngstown State softball team, 9-5. The Penguins dropped the first game, 9-1, in five innings.The Penguins lost the first game 9-1 after it was called in the fifth ining and the second 9-5.

In the first game, the Penguins managed just five hits led by senior Hannah Lucas, who went 2-for-2 and scored the Penguins lone run.

In the second game, the Penguins plated four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Cougars scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5 and four more in the the sixth to seal the game.

YSU is 4-11 and lost eight straight games. The Penguins will play North Carolina A&T on Friday at 3 p.m.
