Cornelius debuts for Grove City softball
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.
The Grove City College softball team opened the 2018 season over Spring Break last week by going 2-4 during a six-game trip. The Wolverines went 2-1 against NCAA Division III foes on the trip.
Grove City began the trip Feb. 27 with an 11-2 setback against Michigan-Dearborn. The Wolverines grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning when sophomore third baseman Jen Kondracki doubled in sophomore catcher Liz Scherer. Kondracki then scored on an error.
Michigan-Dearborn broke through in the fourth inning with nine runs, however, to take control of the game. Freshman pitcher Ashley Cornelius, a Boardman graduate, pitched 32/3 innings and yielded five earned runs. She took the loss.
