Whispering Pines Council to host Scouting breakfast

The Whispering Pines District Great Trail Council Boy Scouts of America’s 13th annual “Celebration of Scouting” breakfast fundraiser will take place from 7 to 9 a.m. April 24 at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave. This year’s speaker will be Youngstown City Schools CEO Krish Mohip, and master of ceremonies will be Mark Luke.

Scouting strives to develop leadship, character, citizenship and life-saving skills while participating in camping, hiking, rock climbing and more. The council serves families in Mahoning County and Hubbard with more than 1,000 children and 600 adult volunteers involved.

Additionally, more than 13,000 Scouts in Summit, Portage, Medina, Trumbull and Northern Wayne counties participate. Scoutreach is the Boy Scouts of America’s commitment to ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to join Scouting regardless of circumstances.

Sponsorships are available at multiple levels and include: Eagle – $5,000 sponsors 33 Scouts for one year of scouting; Tenderfoot – $2,500 sponsors 17 Scouts for one year; Webelos – $1,500 sponsors 10 Scouts for one year; Tiger Cub – $750 sponsors five Scouts for one year; and Other Scout – gifts in multiples of $150 support one or more Scouts.

The deadline to have a sponsorship donation placed or reserve a spot at the breakfast is March 16. A sponsorship form is available by contacting John Brkic at 330-773-0415, ext. 230, or emailing john.brkic@scouting.org.
