Society to host art and book sale

Salem Historical Society, 239 S. Lundy Ave., will host an art and book sale showcasing the collection of Ed and Gerry Sullivan as well as other artists from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Featured items will include original illustrations, ink stoppers, sketches, watercolors, works in progress, inscribed books, prints and signed cartoon panels. All items are pre-priced based on market value. Edmund R. Sullivan was a freelance fine artist, cartoonist, author, and former associate editor of the Catholic Exponent. His cartoons appeared in Saturday Evening Post, Colliers, Ladies’ Home Journal and more.

The museum maintains a small, permanent exhibit of Sullivan’s drawing table, chair and lamp, two self portraits and several other works of art. These can be viewed during tours of the Pearce Building at 208 S. Broadway. For information, call 330-337-8514.
