Film group offers training seminar

The Youngstown Regional Film Commission has several film projects in its pipeline and is launching a series of film-production training seminars to prepare local residents to take part.

Up first will be a two-day seminar titled “The Director’s Team,” led by Kenny Chaplin. It will be held March 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, in the banquet room of Michael Alberini’s restaurant, 1140 Boardman Poland Road (U.S. Route 224).

Tickets are $100 ($85 for students with identification and $50 for veterans). A premium ticket that includes dinner with Chaplin is available for $200. Go to

Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of the assistant director’s team, protocol and etiquette, equipment management, safety, and interview tips, among other topics.

Chaplin has served as assistant director on a number of films, including “Body of Lies” (2008).
