Library to host used book sale


Friends of the Rodman Public Library, 1808 Broadway St., will host a used book sale from today through Thursday. The sale also will include DVDs, CDs, video and audio tapes, magazines, puzzles and an assortment of player piano rolls. For a list of available collectible books, visit

Today's sale is for active Friends members, from 1 to 5 p.m.; from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday are for the general public; 9 to 5 Wednesday is for the general public at regular book sale pricing and from 5 to 8 p.m. for Friends members, Buy one bag for $1, Get One Bag Free, or nonmembers Buy Each Bag for $1; and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Buy 1 Bag for $1, Get 1 for free, for members and Buy 1 Bag for $1, for nonmembers. Gift baskets will be raffled for $1 per ticket or $5 for six tickets. Credit cards will be accepted, with a 2.75 percent fee.

Society to host summer camp


The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host Young Historians Camp for children age 12 to 15 from Monday through Friday. This five day camp dives deeper into local history as participants work like true historians. Participants will explore the MVHS archives and work closely together to research and create presentations to tell their stories to the public through videos, blog posts or small exhibits. Camps run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Cost is $90 for MVHS members and $115 for nonmembers. Summer educational programs are supported by Ronald McDonald House Charities. Drive to benefit Hubbard students


The Hubbard Public Library will be collecting school supplies from Monday through Aug. 11 for students in need. All patrons who donate will be able to have any accrued fines on their Hubbard library account waived as follows: Donating three packaged items will waive up to $5 in fines and donating five packaged items will waive up to $10 in fines. This program applies to fines and is not applied to lost and/or damaged materials or accounts in collections. Fine-free patrons and community members also are encouraged to participate, but donations will not be credited to future fines. All supplies must be in their original packaging. Accepted supplies include: No. 2 pencils, three-ring binders (1 or 3 inch), basic calculators, colored markers, colored pencils, composition notebooks, crayons (8, 16 or 24 count), erasers (cap, regular and jumbo), folders (two-pocket and pocket folders with brads), glue sticks, highlighters, loose leaf paper (college or wide ruled), pencil boxes/bags, pens (black, blue, or red), rulers, scissors (blunt-tip and regular), spiral notebooks (one, three, or five subject), tabbed dividers (five-tab or eight-tab), tissues and white school glue. All supplies brought in for fines at the Hubbard Public Library will be donated to the Hubbard schools. The school will distribute the supplies to the students that fit the requirements. Organization to host informational event


The Columbiana and Jefferson Counties' RSVP will host an information table at the Columbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St., from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. RSVP is an organization of volunteers who are 55 years and older. Volunteers serve at local nonprofit organizations, medical facilities and schools.
