The Boardman High School jazz band played on June 21 for the Music in the Park concert series at Boardman Park.
The musicians included current high school students and recently graduated members of the jazz band, making it the last concert a few students would play.
Boardman Kiwanis Club sold refreshments during the concert.
According to Mark Luke, a Kiwanis member who volunteered at the event, the Kiwanis are one of a few local organizations that takes turns selling refreshments during the concert series.
Luke said the group will be selling refreshments at three more concerts this year.
The performance took place at Maag Pavillion with more than 200 people in attendance.
Moe Prather, a student at Canfield high school who attended the concert, said her and her friends came to the event because they love jazz music.
“I am in the jazz band at Canfield,” Prather said, “I wanted to come out and hear another band play.”
The band played a number of pieces they learned throughout the school year, according to Thomas M. Ruggieri the bands director.
During the concert all graduated students stood to be recognized by the crowd for their work in the band throughout high school.
The next concert in the Music in the Park series will take place on June 28 and will feature the band Root Theory.
