Neighbors | Submitted.The June 14 meeting of the Boardman Lions Club included an installation of officers. The Boardman Lions Club had a meeting at Davidson’s Restaurant on June 14.
The event included the installation officers by Zone Chair Judy Young. Officers installed at the event were Ed Metzel, 3rd Vice President; Jim Vivo, 2 Year Director; Laura Ahlswede, 1 Year Director; Nancy Golubic, Secretary; Judy Young, Zone Chair; Gary Sobotka, Tail Twister; Matt Gambrel, 1 Year Director; Kathy Vogrin, 2 Year Director; Mark Carver, President; John Landers, Treasurer; Jana Coffin, 1st Vice President/Membership Chair; Jason Loree, 2nd Vice President/Tail Twister, and Laura Sobotka, Membership Chair.
Also in attendance were the club’s recently awarded $1,000 scholarship winners: Boardman High School graduate Alexandra Morar and Cardinal Mooney High School graduate Matthew Hough. This is the clubs fifth year for the scholarship. Funding for the scholarships comes from the annual Night at the Races, which takes place in March.
There was a special presentation of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to Lion Terry Shears.
Boardman Lions also inducted two new members: Monica Thompson and Bob Bindas,
