Campbell man faces gun charges after fleeing, crashing

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said officers found a stolen 9mm handgun early Monday morning inside the SUV of a man they chased on the North Side.

Police about 1:45 a.m. tried to pull over a car driven by Ricky Easterly, 37, of Campbell for an improper turn at Saranac Avenue and Elm Street but reports said Easterly refused to stop until he crashed into a utility pole at New York Avenue and Elm Street.

Easterly ran from the vehicle before he was caught.

Reports said the gun was found on the floor, reports said.

Easterly was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital before being booked into the Mahoning County jail on weapons charges.
