HOWLAND

Oscar, the singing dog owned by Pam Baker of Howland, is once again impressing television audiences.

The golden retriever, accompanied by Baker on piano, appeared on NBC competition show “America’s Got Talent” on Tuesday.

The act earned the approval of the judges, even garnering an amazed look from the hard-to-please Simon Cowell. Oscar and Baker advanced to the next round and will appear on a future episode of the summer show.

Baker and her friends and family gathered at Buffalo Wild Wings in Niles on Tuesday night to watch the show.

“This is the biggest thing that’s ever happened in my life and obviously in Oscar’s life,” she told 21 WFMJ-TV news, noting “It’s his talent that really carries both of us.”

It’s obvious that Oscar really does sing. The dog perks up when his master starts playing piano and howls on key to the music with a look of concentration.

“He hits notes and vibratos, and he really sings,” said Baker.

The act’s current stint on “AGT” isn’t Oscar’s first brush with fame. In November, he was one of three finalists on a singing dog contest on the “Kelly and Ryan Live” show, although he did not win.
