TRTA to host spelling bee Thursday


The Trumbull Retired Teachers Association’s 33rd annual Spelling Bee will be at 1 p.m. Thursday on the Trumbull County Fairgrounds in the Junior Fair Exhibit Hall. Registration will take place the day of the event from noon to 12:45. No pre-registrations are being taken because July 12 is Kids’ Day at the fair; children 14 and under are admitted free. Any child who has completed first through eighth grades is eligible to compete. All participants will receive a certificate of participation, a treat bag full of school supplies, and a few sweets. Volunteers to host sale this weekend


Alzheimer Network volunteers will host their annual garage sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The location of the sale will be Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road. The Alzheimer Network is a nonprofit organization providing 12 free monthly family support groups in the area as well as numerous educational seminars for caregivers. Free Toolbox Workshop


Ohio History Connection's Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 W. Wood St., will be hosting this summer's third Toolbox Workshop: Collection Management Series from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. In the third workshop of the Collection Management Series, "Being a Good Collection Steward," participants will look into ways to organize and protect their collections such as cataloging and data entry. The speaker will be Sara Fisher, local History Corps representative from the Oberlin Heritage Center. These programs are free and open to the public. For questions or to reserve a spot, contact M. Olivia's Grace to host benefit on Wednesday


Olivia's Grace will host a benefit from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Speakeasy Lounge, 136 N. Park Ave. There will be a raffle, vendors and specials. Olivia's Grace is a nonprofit organization providing bereavement photography at no cost for families who have experienced the loss of a child through stillbirth, miscarriage or infant death. All services are donated to the families.
