Master gardeners to host garden tour
The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County will host its third annual Garden Tour from noon to 5 p.m. July 22. The tour highlights four gardens in Lawrence County that can be toured at participants’ own pace.
Master gardeners will be available at each location to answer questions.
The following gardens will be featured:
The Altman Garden, 300 N. Market St., New Wilmington, Pa., includes three acres of hostas, daylilies, lilium and daffodils.
Two gardens belonging to Pam Docherty of New Castle, Pa. Docherty’s gardens consist of perennials and annuals for more color along with a memory garden with shade- and sun-loving plants.
Frank DiLeo’s garden, in Mt. Jackson, Pa., features a large vegetable garden, fruit trees and a small bonsai tree collection.
Each garden will provide an opportunity to view different styles of gardens, a chance to talk to the creators and get input from Penn State master gardeners.
Cost for the tour is $10. Registration is encouraged. Register online at https://extension.psu.edu/master-gardener-garden-tour or call toll free 1-877-345-0691.
