The Boardman library invited adults to their building to participate in a monthly game night on May 24.
Boardman librarians Karen Saunders and Sheila Glowaski created the branch’s “Game Night for Adults.” They host the night and play games such as rummy, Farkle and Scrabble.
“It’s a program where you can socialize and use your brains,” said Saunders. She and Glowaski played Scrabble and Farkle with three guests during their time on the night.
They began to offer the program after patrons asked about making it. Other branches of the library have similar, well-attended events, so the Boardman branch decided to try to have their own.
The program occurs on the fourth Thursday of each month and receives a varied amount of attendance. They have a few board games to play in addition to their standard deck of cards and dice. The librarians provide snacks and a drink for each event.
