Cat rescue to host garage sale


West Side Cats, a no-kill all volunteer cat rescue, will host a garage sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 2217 Mahoning Ave. in preparation to move to a new location. For information, call Marie at 330-519-5002.

Sports trivia challenge takes place July 19


The fourth annual Mahoning Valley Sports Trivia Challenge will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. July 19 at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road. Proceeds benefit Potential Development Schools for students with autism.

This is a charity event which features sports trivia, sports celebrities, pub fare and prizes. Entries are available in four-person for $1,000 and eight-person teams for $2,000. Corporate sponsorships also are available.

Chairwoman of the event is Deloran Muransky-Thompson, owner of Ivory & Birch in Boardman; title sponsor is Michael J. Simon, Simco Management Corp.; master of ceremonies is Bob Hannon, executive director of the Youngstown and Mahoning Valley United Way; and Ed Muransky, chief executive officer of The Muransky Companies. The event is in honor and memory of Esther and Morris Simon.

Petco to host adoption event


Petco, 1145 Hermitage Road, will host an adoption event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday with rabbits from Bunnies in Baskets, an F5RS, 501(c)(3) rescue and sanctuary.

Winds at the Winery planned for July 15


The Canfield Community Concert Band will host the third annual Winds at the Winery from noon to 7 p.m. July 15 at Mastropietro Winery, 14558 Ellsworth Road. There will be entertainment by The Gem City Brass, Austintown Fitch Alumni Jazz Band, Canfield Community Band and more. All attendees are asked to take lawn chairs. Concessions will be available for purchase and there will be a 50-50 raffle, raffle prizes and door prizes.
