Yellow Brick Place to host golf outing

The second annual Memorial Golf Outing for Yellow Brick Place Cancer Wellness Center will take place July 13 at Avalon at Squaw Creek, 761 Youngstown Kingsville Road SE. This fundraiser is in memory of Donna Detwiler, Yellow Brick Place co-founder, and Jennie Benigas, one of the organization’s first volunteers.

Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The goal of the event is to raise funds and awareness of the multiple services offered to those fighting cancer. Some of the services include the Look Good, Feel Better program, Wig Bank, support groups, educational programs and a resource library. All services are free and nonmedical in nature.

Sponsors of the outing include First Energy Foundation (Wizard sponsor); Heritage Environmental (Lion sponsor); the McMahon family (Scarecrow sponsor); Stabi, Burnett & Co. (Dorothy sponsor); WTS, Midwest Commodities, Producer Consciousness/Homer, Warren, US Bulk (Toto sponsors); and Roth Brothers/Wardle, Meridian Health, Hill, Barth & King (Auntie Em sponsors).

Cost is $150 per golfer, which includes GPS cart, unlimited use of the practice range, locker room access, all amenities the day of the event as well as breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Proceeds will go to Yellow Brick Place.
