Local food and beer competition

Staff report

Lamppost Farm, 14900 Market St., will present Farmageddon, a local food and beer competition, on July 15 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event will feature five food trucks – Babcia’s Lunchbox, Biba, Smoke Worx, Some Like It Hot on Wheels and What’s Grandpa Smokin’ —preparing foods in their own signature style using Lamppost Farm meats.

Beer will be offered by five local brewers: Birdfish Brewing, R. Shea Brewing, Noble Creature Cask House, Modern Methods Brewing and Sandy Springs.

Each of the five participating food trucks will be teamed with a brewery in a culinary competition designed to showcase a signature brew and complementing food using Lamppost’s quality meat. Participants will vote on their favorite pairing. Ballots will be drawn throughout the evening for guest prizes before being counted to award the winning chew/brew team.

In addition to battling it out through generous samplings of food and drink, Farmageddon will include live entertainment by the Labra Brothers and Slim Pickins bands, games and the opportunity to shop for an event T-shirt, grass-fed/pastured products and works by local artisans in the Farm Store.

Lamppost Farm is a nonprofit organization that uses agriculture to teach people through education, hospitality, stewardship, discipleship and quality food.

Passports are $40/person and include a generous sampling of food and beer at each of five food truck/brewery pairings, and an event pint glass. Pre-registration is required by July 8 at squareup.com/store/lamppost-farm. For information, go to Lamppostfarm.com.
