Rescue Mission plans anniversary open house

The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley will host an open house to celebrate its 125th anniversary Thursday at the mission, 962 Martin Luther King Blvd. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for refreshments, tours and visits with the staff with the opportunity to learn about the services, programs and community collaboration. This event will kick-off a year-long celebration. Free parking is available across the street.

The mission began in 1893 as Christ Mission Settlement and was founded by W.J. Price at 408 E. Federal St. It was established to reach out in love and compassion to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of disadvantaged men, women and children without regard to race, color or creed. John Muckridge is its president and chief executive officer.
