“Images: Remembrances of the Holocaust – The Eva Schloss Story,” a play written and directed by J.E. Ballantyne Jr. of Youngstown, will be reprised Feb. 2-4 at the Youngstown Playhouse.
Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 and 3, and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Tickets are $15 at the Playhouse box office or by phone at 330-788-8739.
The play is about the life of Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss, who is the stepsister of Anne Frank. It premiered at the Playhouse in August 2016, and has since been performed as far west as Cincinnati.
The original run of the one-woman show starred local actress Molly Galano. Taking her place in the upcoming shows will be professional actress Tari Lyn Bergoine.
The show, told in retrospect, follows Schloss from her childhood, through hiding from the Nazis, to her time spent in Auschwitz and the years following her liberation as she became one of the most powerful and influential Holocaust speakers in the world. Schloss is also the topic of a new interactive documentary about her life titled “116 Cameras.” The film has been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Short Documentary category.
