Ice skating rink open at Boardman Park

« Boardman Neighbors

Boardman Township Park has announced that an outdoor ice skating rink has been opened for free unsupervised public skating starting on Jan. 4.

The Ice Rink is located adjacent to the parking lot at the park’s Southern Boulevard entrance. Skating is only allowed when ice conditions are safe and the open sign is posted at the ice rink.

The park would like residents to understand that this is a natural outdoor rink, which is subject to changing weather conditions; therefore, the condition of the ice surface may fluctuate. There is no skating when the closed sign is posted. The rules and regulations are also posted at the Ice Rink.

The Ice Rink will be open Monday through Sunday as follows: non-contact hockey from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., open skating from 1-4 p.m., non-contact hockey from 4-6 p.m., and additional open skating from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday and additional open skating from 6-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

If there are no non-contact hockey players using the ice rink during the hours designated as such, then open skating is permitted.

The park does not provide skate rentals. All non-contact hockey players must use approved equipment including certified helmets and face guards and provide their own goals. The park will provide a fire pit and benches at the Rink. Skaters are reminded to dress for the weather conditions and to wear properly fitted skates.

A complete list of hours and ice rink rules are available at www.boardmanpark.com and on the park’s Facebook page. Daily updates regarding ice conditions are available by calling the park office at 330-726-8105 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Skating hours may change without notice due to weather conditions, ice conditions and snow removal.
