The fourth annual Canfield Cardinal Classic Boys Basketball Tournament, hosted by the Canfield Boys Basketball Boosters, took place at Canfield Village Middle School Dec. 2-3 and Dec. 9-10. The 2017 tournament included a total of 28 fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade teams, the largest number of teams the tournament has hosted.
Canfield High School boys basketball players volunteered their help at the tournament, including working the scorers table. Player parents also volunteered throughout the tournament, helping at the concession stand and working the admissions table.
Proceeds from the annual tournament benefit the Boys Basketball Boosters. The boosters use the money to buy a large piece of equipment each year and the proceeds also help contribute to the cost of summer camps and shootouts.
On the final day of the tournament, a champion was crowned for each age division. Canfield Cardinals won the fourth-grade division, the Boardman Spartans won the fifth-grade division and Warren JFK won the sixth-grade division.
