MetroParks seeks public comment
Mill Creek MetroParks is soliciting public comment for an upcoming project to resurface 1.5 miles of West Newport Drive from Sheban to Hampton drives.
The project is scheduled for construction this summer.
Of the estimated $289,190 construction cost, $126,933 will be funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Park District Road Improvement Fund, according to the MetroParks.
During construction, West Newport from Sheban to Hampton will be closed to vehicles, but open to pedestrians and cyclists.

Man pleads not guilty to drug trafficking
Dillon J. Boggs, 25 of Iddings Avenue Southeast and Logan Street Southeast, pleaded not guilty in Warren Municipal Court to a drug-trafficking charge.
Police said they were investigating a shots-fired call at a Charles Avenue Southeast home at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday when Boggs entered a car parked in front the house. Police followed the car as it drove away and made a traffic stop a short time later.
An officer found a bag of suspected marijuana in Boggs’ coat pocket, then found three large bags containing about 3 pounds of suspected marijuana on the floor in the car’s front passenger side.
Matching SNAP funds
The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. and Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley are implementing the SNAP Produce Perks Double-Up program, which allows SNAP/EBT customers to earn up to $10 per day to purchase fruits and vegetables.
For each dollar an individual spends at the Cornersburg Sparkle, 3623 S. Meridian Road, they receive a matching dollar up to $10 for use with the program. Funds for the program are through the Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive grant awarded to YNDC by the United States Department of Agriculture.

West Branch school board will host a town-hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. today. The meeting is a public hearing regarding the school calendar and will take place in the West Branch High School Auditorium, 14277 Main St.
New parking lot
Mill Creek MetroParks announced the completion of a new 20-vehicle aggregate parking lot at Sebring Woods in the village.
The new lot is on North Johnson Road and provides access to a 0.7-mile primitive hiking trail loop, according to a news release. The loop features two natural creek crossings and goes through a variety of habitats.
