Staff report

BOARDMAN

Township police arrested two men after a Mill Creek Boulevard resident reported seeing two people attempting to break into his truck Tuesday morning.

Township police were called to the house in the 5400 block about 1:25 a.m., according to a police report. The homeowner told police he woke up because his dog was barking, then looked out an upstairs window to see two men standing in his driveway next to his truck.

The homeowner shouted at them, prompting them to run away, according to the report.

Police then found Douglas Cole, 18, of Youngstown, and Michael J. Wilson, 23, of Warren, who matched the description given by the man who called police, walking near Golfview Drive and West Boulevard, according to the report. The homeowner then confirmed they were the men he had seen, leading police to arrest them.

Police also reported finding both suspects had criminal trespassing warrants out of Weathersfield; loose change in their pockets; and that several other vehicles in the area had been entered.

Police said they found footprints leading up to a car parked at a West Glen Drive residence, and footprints leading to the back of the house, where they found wrapped presents with items removed. The homeowner confirmed the items had been removed from the car.

Cole and Wilson are charged with theft, attempted theft and two counts each of criminal trespass.
