Early heart attack care
Northside Regional Medical Center, 500 Gypsy Lane, is offering a free Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC) and Hands-Only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course for the public from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 in the hospital’s Community Room in the main lobby next to the emergency entrance.
The class covers signs and symptoms of a heart attack and necessary immediate actions to take. Participants also learn how to administer Hands-Only CPR.

Grant to assist with emergency service
The Episcopal Diocese of Ohio awarded a $25,000 grant to the Youngstown Protestant Family Service’s Elderly in Crisis program for the period of January 2018 - October 2018 or until funds depleted. Head of households 60 and older can be assisted with emergency service. The client must provide required proofs. Assistance which will be determined by the caseworker. Clients who received emergency monetary assistance during the calendar years 2016 -2017 of previous grants are not eligible.
Anyone requesting service must schedule an appointment with a caseworker. Walk-ins will not be serviced. For information, call Protestant Family Services at 330-746-4600.
Grant from CareSource Foundation
YWCA Youngstown a $5,000 grant from CareSource Foundation for the Y’s Barbara Wick Transitional Housing Program which is designed to meet the shelter and support needs of low- or no-income homeless women, 18 years and older, with or without children.
Included are assistance in locating child care services, permanent housing, and health services; case management services including information and referrals to legal services, substance abuse, mental health services, vocational training, and support groups; household management skills training; and relationship and parenting skills training.

Class on herbology
Dannielle MacDuff, with Mussler Chiropractic and Phoenix House Wellness Center, is offering a three-week class on herbology from 7-8:30 p.m. Jan. 18, 25 and Feb. 1, at ETI Technical College, 2076 Youngstown-Warren Road.
The cost is a $55 donation to the Phoenix House Building Fund.
