Family members sentenced in drug case

Staff report

Three members of the same family were each given 18-month prison terms Monday on drug-trafficking charges while a fourth member was arraigned in federal court across the street for his role in the same case.

Reginald Young, 33; Daryl Young, 45; and Lenaurius Young, 22, were all sentenced by Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for their roles in selling drugs out of several apartments in the ESA apartment complex on the East Side.

A fourth person, Antonio Young, 20, was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge George Limbert in the U.S. Northern District Court Of Ohio for his role in the same case.

He faced 20 counts on drug charges as well as a charge for having a .40-caliber handgun while he was selling drugs.

The investigation of the family took about a year. The members are accused of operating from January 2016 until they were arrested in March.

When police served search warrants in the case the day the defendants were arrested, they found more than $14,000 in cash, seven guns and drugs of various kinds including heroin, marijuana and cocaine.

Antonio Young pleaded not guilty in his arraignment in federal court. He remains in custody pending a detention hearing.
