Four YSU athletes win in Akron Invitational


Chad Zallow, Jaliyah Elliott, Jaynee Corbett and Keishawnna Burts won events in the Akron Zips Invitational on Friday as the Penguins are a week from the Horizon League Championships. The Penguins competed against Akron, Buffalo and various unattched runners on Friday evening.

Chad Zallow took first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.87 seconds. Elliott won the 60m dash with a time of 7.47 seconds. Burts won the 200m dash with a time of 24.44 seconds.

Corbett won the shot put with a toss of 15.47m on her second attempt of the event. Corbett was second in the weight throw with a toss of 17.61m. Corbett had the lead until the fifth round when Akron’s Olivia Snyder had a toss of 17.68m.
