Historical society to share books


In conjunction with Black History Month, the Salem Historical Society will share several books on the topic that are available at the Society’s Gift Shop, 208 S. Broadway Ave. One of the books, “A Salute to Black History, Selected Articles of Lois Firestone and Others,” is a collection of articles and pictures printed in local newspapers in the mid-1990s.

Other books available are “Strotter Brown, Basketmaker of Old Salem”; “Sojourner Truth,” “Citizens of Color” and “People of Courage.” The gift shop is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. For information, call 330-337-8514.
