What: Join us as we read “No Two Alike” by Keith Baker and discover snowflakes are similar but no two are exactly alike – just like birds, trees, forests and people.

Where: Ford Nature Center, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

Cost: $4 for Mahoning County residents, $6 NR.

Details: Age 3 to 5 plus adult. Dress for the weather. Register/pay at Ford Nature Center by Monday.

Owl Prowl

When: Friday, 7-8:30 p.m.

What: Ever find the nocturnal nature of owls uncanny? Join in to demystify the lives of owls and go on an exploration.

Where: East Cohasset Hike & Bike Trail.

Details: Dress for the weather. Meet at Ford Nature Center. Moderate difficulty, 2 miles.

Walk-In Orchid Repotting Clinic

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon

What: Bring your orchids for some TLC and have the experts repot them for you.

Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown

Cost: $3-plus. Includes orchid mix, pots.

Details: Three plant limit per person. Drop-in.

Winter Seminar

What: The annual Winter Seminar is presented by the Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown and Mill Creek MetroParks.

Winter Birding

When: Saturday, 8:30-10 a.m.

What: Enjoy the morning exploring grasslands and wetlands in search of winter bird residents at Mill Creek Preserve with a MetroParks Naturalist.

Cost: Free

Details: Dress for the weather. Moderate difficulty, 1.5 miles.

Master Gardener Volunteer Training

When: March 22 through May.

What: Covers everything from herbs and vegetables to insects and plant botany. Volunteers help with community programs and clinics, including teaching programs throughout Mahoning County.

Cost: $175, includes training materials, refreshments and more
