Cincinnati Police officer shot, possible suspect killed

A Cincinnati police officer was wounded and a possible suspect was killed during an exchange of gunfire Friday, police said.

Chief Eliot Isaac said at the scene that the officer had an arm wound that’s not considered life-threatening. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Isaac said he is expected to “make a full recovery.”

The possible suspect died at the scene.

Isaac said officers were trying to serve a felony warrant when gunfire broke out around 3:40 p.m.

He didn’t immediately have other details, including about the warrant or how many officers were involved.

He also didn’t identify the officer or suspect.

Fraternal Order of Police local president Dan Hils was at the hospital and told reporters the officer was conscious.

“He is alert. He is sharp. I believe he is going to be OK,” he said.

Isaac said police would provide more information this weekend after further investigation.

Police closed a section of Victory Parkway in the city’s East Walnut Hills neighborhood.
