Teams of young music aficionados attended Music Trivia Mondays at the Austintown library on July 23.

The event was open to local families or individuals, resulting in a mixed crowd of three teams made up of both.

Competition took place through the website kahoot.com. Kahoot can also be downloaded in app form. Participants could bring their own device to compete or borrow one from the library.

The teams watched or listened to clips of famous music videos, concerts and other events and tried to guess the correct song title in order to earn the most points. Trivia questions ranged from Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” to “Dream On” by Aerosmith and Green Day’s “Good Riddance” to the Alessia Cara version of “How Far I’ll Go” from the popular Disney movie, “Moana.”

The prize up for grabs was first dibs at the goodies on the snack table.

The winner of the event was the team, “Librarian’s Rock.”

Librarian Allison Graf, who led the event, said that this event was hosted at another library branch last year and they decided to host it again at Austintown because of this year’s summer reading program theme, “Library’s Rock!” Graf said that the library won’t host this program again this summer, but they might use it occasionally with the children who come to the library after school.

Kahoot is a free website that can be used to host your own music trivia night, including making custom quizzes and more. For more information on Kahoot, visit the website kahoot.com.
