LeBron James will make his Los Angeles Lakers debut at Portland on Oct. 18 and play before home fans for the first time two days later.
The Lakers will host Houston on Oct. 20 at Staples Center.
The NBA released its complete regular season schedule Friday, and the Lakers will play on national TV 35 times.
For the 20th straight year, the Lakers will play on Christmas Day, traveling to face the defending champion Golden State Warriors.
James returns to Cleveland for his lone game against the Cavaliers on Nov. 21.
The Lakers’ longest road trip of the season is a five-game, 12-day stretch from Feb. 1-12 when the Grammy Awards return to Staples Center.
They’ll play 13 back-to-back sets, and two don’t require travel.
Krzyzewski criticizes NCAA hoops reforms
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski doesn’t believe the NCAA coordinated its reforms well enough.
Speaking two days after the governing body announced numerous changes following a high-profile corruption scandal in college basketball, Krzyzewski on Friday said he approves the intent behind the changes but added that “they don’t have a plan of execution.”
Among the notable changes, the NCAA included provisions allowing agent relationships.
The NCAA proposes that a few high school players identified as elite prospects by USA Basketball be allowed to sign with agents beginning July 1 before their senior year. But the NBA would have to change its age-limit restrictions.
Also, college players who sign with agents may return to school if undrafted, but only if they sought NBA advisory evaluations and participated in the league’s scouting combine. That also would require tweaks to NBA and players’ union rules.

Loaiza pleads guilty to drug charges
Former All-Star pitcher Esteban Loaiza, who earned more than $43 million over 14 seasons, pleaded guilty Friday to federal drug charges in California.
Loiza acknowledged that he possessed about 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of cocaine with intent to distribute. He faces up a minimum of 10 years in a prison and maximum of life when he is sentenced Nov. 2.
Loaiza, 46, was under surveillance when he was arrested in February near a house in Imperial Beach, which borders Tijuana, Mexico. His sliver Mercedes SUV had just left the garage when authorities confronted him.
After a canine sniffed drugs in the SUV, authorities obtained a search warrant for the house and found the cocaine in 20 packages in the compartment of a Nissan parked in the garage. Loaiza admitted in a plea agreement that he transferred the drugs from one vehicle to the other.
Loaiza attorney, Janice Deaton, declined to speak with reporters after leaving the courthouse.
The hurler played for several U.S. teams between 1995 and 2008, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox.
