Library to host Wellness Wednesday, featuring pedorthist

SALEM

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host “Wellness Wednesday” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The program will be presented by guest speaker Jen Balint of Cobblers Corner in Columbiana.

Balint is a professional shoe fitter with more than 15 years’ experience and also a state licensed certified pedorthist. The topic will be “How to Choose the Best Shoes and Insoles for Your Feet.”

Balint will teach participants how to properly choose the correct supportive footwear and insoles for varying foot types to help eliminate foot pain and discomfort.

This program is open to the public and free to attend. The “Wellness Wednesday” series is an ongoing, once-a-month program series that provides information about a wide range of health and wellness topics.

Acupuncture lecture planned in Salem

SALEM

The Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host Dr. Denise Carradine of Carradine Chiropractic Center in Boardman for the program, “Acupuncture: A Natural, Holistic Approach to Healthcare,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The lecture will explain what acupuncture is and what it is used for. The 12 main meridians in the body will be discussed along with the most common symptoms associated with each meridian.

Other topics to be discussed include auriculotherapy, hand special effect points, needle and non-needle techniques, drug-free and non-invasive forms of health care.
