Eastside Crime Watch will host a National Night Out picnic at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wick Park.

The Niles Historical Society will host its annual Heritage Day from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Ward-Thomas House, 503 Brown St. Arts and crafts by local vendors will be on display and for sale, as well as material on Niles history. There will be games, face painting and activities for children. Rick Muccio will do caricature drawings and Amanda Beagle, Miss Ohio 2004, will give a musical presentation accompanied by Jack Ciarnello at 1 p.m. A show by Birds in Flight will be at 2 p.m. Heather Merritt and local historian Sean Posey will speak at 3 p.m. There also will be tours of the house, greenhouse and barn. Heritage Day includes food and family fun with free admission.
Meet the Penguins event planned
Youngstown State University football fans will have the chance to meet members of the 2018 team at the "Meet the Penguins" event from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium. This free event will offer autographs, photos and the opportunity to interact with the team. The 2018 team photo will be taken. Parking is free in the Hollywood Gaming/Penguin Club M-70 Tailgate Lot across from the stadium. Fans can try on a YSU uniform, clock their 40-yard dash time, kick field goals and toss footballs around with the Penguins. Pete the Penguin and members of the YSU spirit squad also will be in attendance. Additionally, the first 100 fans will receive a free YSU Derek Rivers/Avery Moss dual bobblehead. The athletic ticket office will be open from 1-3 p.m. for anyone interested in purchasing season tickets. Tickets for individual games also will be on sale. Information for the Pete's Kids Club presented by Marco's Pizza will be available. The youth organization offers a chance for fans in eighth-grade and under to support the team. Dice Run for MDA planned
Warren Harley-Davidson, 2102 Elm Road, will be the registration site for the Dice Run for MDA fundraiser Saturday. Check-in will be at 8 a.m., and the ride will begin at 10 a.m. Water and a light snack will be provided at check in. Cost is $25 per rider or $20 for finish line celebration only. The first stop will be MC Mobility in Mentor and a hot dog and water will be provided. The last stop at 2 p.m. will be Stinger Harley-Davidson in Medina, where lunch will be provided.
