Four Cuyahoga mayors endorse Schiavoni for governor

Staff report

Four Cuyahoga County mayors have endorsed state Sen. Joe Schiavoni for governor.

The mayors — Michael Dylan Brennan of University Heights, Trevor Elkins of Newburgh Heights, Katie Gallagher of Brooklyn and Stan Koci of Bedford — made their announcement today.

"As mayors, we can no longer afford the status quo as our schools starve, infrastructure fails, and residents lack quality employment opportunities," said Elkins in a news release. "We are supporting Senator Joe Schiavoni because he has done what no other candidate in the race for Ohio governor has done; he has outlined an array of sensible, practical, and achievable programs to restore opportunity for all of Ohio's citizens."

Schiavoni of Boardman, D-33rd, faces a Democratic field that includes Richard Cordray and Dennis Kucinich in the primary on May 8.
