Cultural fair to celebrate Eastern European Month
A Slavic Cultural Fair will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Father Snock Center at Summit Academy of Our Lady of Sorrows (formerly St. Matthias School), 2800 Shady Run Road. This free event, organized by Loretta Ekoniak, Slovak representative to the statewide Eastern European Congress of Ohio, is a celebration of Eastern European Month.
The goal is to culturally unite state residents with a shared geographic ancestry by fostering discussions and special events. Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown will be on hand to present a proclamation honoring Eastern European residents and Pittsburgh-based artisan Lawrence Kozlowski will be conducting seasonal folkart class and demonstrations throughout the afternoon.
