The Boardman boys track team improved its 2018 record to 4-0 and 2-0 in the AAC with a 65-58-41 victory over the Poland Bulldogs and Warren Harding Raiders on April 10.
The Spartans opened the meet with a second place finish in the 4x800 meter relay with the team of seniors Jason Fabian and David Bader and freshmen Frank Bero and Caydin Newberry.
In the next event, the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Brian Yauger placed first and freshman Isaac Nordquist was fourth. In the 100-meter dash, Spartan junior Josh Rodriguez placed fourth overall. The Spartan 4x200 meter relay team of seniors Justice Jama and Billy Cammack, freshman Brennan Stratton and Rodriguez placed first.
In the 1600-meter run, sophomore Mitchel Dunham took first. The Spartans were first in the 4x100 meter relay with the team of Jama, Rodriguez and sophomores Rashie Garner and Isaiah Suarez. Fabian placed fourth in the 400-meter run and Yauger placed first in the 300 hurdles.
In the 800-meter run, junior Payton Torres was first and freshman Jonah Bacho was fourth. The 200-meter run saw Cammack finish second and Jama fourth. The next event was the 3200-meter run, which was won by Dunham with Newberry in fourth. The 4x400 relay team of Cammack, Rodriguez, Suarez and junior Nick Torres placed first.
In the field events, senior Steven Amstutz won the shot put and junior Nikitas Missos was fourth. Missos placed second in the discus with Amstutz taking third. In the high jump Cammack was fourth and Nick Torres placed fourth in the long jump.
“This was a very tough meet for us,” said Spartan Head Coach John Phillips. “Poland is a very good team and Warren has some outstanding athletes-we really had to fight for every point tonight.”
The BW-3 Track Meet MVP was junior Nick Torres.
